In it's first year, I would say great success for Ironman Boulder!! They had an 89% finish rate and some super impressive swim, bike, run, and finish times. And transition times!! One guy was in transition for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Ha ha, what in the world was he doing!?

A trip that was supposed to include a business meeting turned into a weekend of supporting my friends and Aunt racing the Ironman... I made a bus full of new friends and memories for a lifetime.

Arriving in Denver on Saturday afternoon, the views were all too familiar and the air still comfortable. It truly is beautiful in Colorado! A quiet night before Ironman morning...

Sully (my friend) had no qualms about waking us up at 3:30 a.m. We moaned and groaned our way through the morning making sure to stay positive and keep his head together. We all climbed on a bus to the water start and awaited the cannon. The swim was in the Boulder Reservoir. Super flat and fast.  I think the fastest 2.4 mile swim time was just under 50 minutes. WOW! Once all our friends made it out and on the bike we climbed on the bus and headed downtown.

Breakfast at Foolish Craig's Cafe. With names like Altitude Adjustment, Fool's Gold, and The Foolish Craig, I had the most delicious (HUGE) crepe I've ever had and fresh OJ Mimosa's. The morning went surprisingly fast while we waited for our friends to bike. We hung out on Pearl Street and watched the amazing hodge podge of characters in Boulder. Once our friends came off the bike we spent the rest of the day hanging out on the run course. It was a super hot day but fortunately little humidity in Colorado. We all realized that spectating is a sport in itself! We made jokes that we were practically doing an Ironman #icantbelievewepracticallydidanironmantoday Ha ha ha!!

My Aunt Cheryl finished her 21st Ironman (22nd full distance) in 11 hours and 55 minutes. She took 2nd in her age group. My buddy Sully finished his 2nd Ironman in 12 hours and 37 minutes. Very impressive times!!

Ironman Boulder is definitely on my IM To Do List. A gorgeous swim, a challenging bike and run course, SO much support and volunteers, and just a great layout. The finish line was thunderous and exciting! Very proud of my Aunt Cheryl and Sully for a great day!
