9 Weeks to Ironman Arizona
Monday, September 8, 2014: today marks the longest 7 hour drive in history. It took 12 hours. Holy moly, what were we doing!? No training today, just the long haul and a quick unpack.
Tuesday, September 9, 2014: worked at the shop all day today. Looking forward to a run after work... And I nailed it. Have I mentioned how insanely hot south Mississippi is right now!? SMOKING hot! It really sucks your run right out of ya ~and not in a good way! The heat DRAINS the body of any umph. I can normally maintain a 9-10 minute mile. In this heat, I'm lucky if I push out 11's!! So I hit a 60 minute run with Dave (you ever run with someone who you know is crazy faster than you and forcing themselves to run slow just so they can run with you and it makes you feel kinda bad but then you're all like well you asked for it! So run MY PACE ?? Yeah, well, ~that happened); every mile we did a 1 minute surge followed by a 1 minute recovery. About 45 minutes in I required a pit stop (Indian food for lunch!); otherwise, all was good.
Wednesday, September 10, 2014: 75 mile bike. Rode the first 55 with Luke. Again with the heat! GoodNESS it's hot. Not just hot, but humid hot. Like soggy wet THICK hot. I was forced to take a little break for a meeting at the shop but then went back out for my last 20 miles. I caught some rain on and off but honestly, IT FELT GOOD! Kept a decent average at 17.5 for 4 hours and 14 minutes of biking.
Thursday, September 11, 2014: another fun day at the shop. Two of my beautiful friends stopped in to fuel up and get a 26.2 magnet (Emily's first marathon ~on the left~ YAY Emily! So super proud of you!!). I love these girls. They're such nonjudgemental beautiful women and such amazing athletes. After a fun day at the shop, hit the beach for a 5.25 mile run. Again with these slow miles, but I really think it's the heat. I'm gonna keep chugging along no matter what!
Friday, September 12, 2014: a day full of errands and packing... weekend adventure to Pensacola with friends!! I am super excited to make new memories... And while I was "running" all day, there was no official training to speak of. Why do I feel like I'm slacking this week??
After dropping Jake off to play, hit the road around 5pm with Dave and Dana, met Trish over there. A few sips of wine, a fantastic dinner, and a chill night on the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk.

Saturday, September 13, 2014: opted out of training again. I don't know why I was (am) so persistent on slacking this week. I guess my mind just needed an out #weekendgetaway
We hit the beach HARD all day today. Do you SEE how clear this water is!? ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I want to move here. Ya know, I just might! We were joined by Tish, Jg, and Amanda today. Beach, dinner, tattoos for two, drinks, and DANCING the night away (this counts for training right ??). Word of the weekend: UPGRADE. There will be lots of stories to follow from here.Missing from photo - TRISH!! We lost Trish !? |
Sunday, September 14, 2014: how we woke up this morning and ran, I have no idea. But it happened. And I'm proud of us!! 6 miles. HOT. HUMID. DONE. Now gimme a cheeseburger...
I'm going to hit next week a lot harder than I hit this week. My body needs a good beating. Hold me accountable friends!!
