If You Never Tri, You'll Never Know!

8 Weeks to Ironman Arizona

The back up plan. Bun on top of head and old arse goggles :/ #justkeepswimming #triathletesarecrazy #imaz

Monday, September 15, 2014: after a brilliant weekend with friends, I am ready to hit some Ironman training HARD... Started out the week with a 3,300 meter swim. Of course, not before I showed up without my cap and goggles. OH NO!! Luckily I had some old goggles in my bag and the lifeguard found me a swim cap. Here's to hopes for no lice! Ha ha ;)

Tuesday, September 16, 2014: a 4 hour bike cut short. I made it 65 miles in 3:40. I actually kind of fell out a little bit! With an hour to go, I made it out about 20 more minutes and felt very lightheaded, dizzy, nauseous. I had to make a quick pit stop. I almost called in back up but manned up and rode the 20 minutes back to my car. Called it a day for sure! I guess "feels like 102" just did me in today! I can't express the importance of nutrition, hydration, and electrolytes enough!

Wednesday, September 17, 2014: met a few friends at the lake this morning but only for a bike... we rode 25 miles in 1:15. SOLID! 19mph average.Tick...
Later in the day, repping my tri team (^^Ticking Tri Bombs ~see visor above), I ran a hard 30 minutes for 3.7 miles and an easy 30 minutes (with one of my athletes) for 3 miles. Total run: 60 minutes, 6.7 miles. SOLID! Tick...
Finished my day with a pile of broccoli and some turkey meatballs. Healthy eating? Nailed it. BOOM!!! Middle of the week and I'm feeling great! 5am wake up for a 2:10 run tomorrow.

Thursday, September 18, 2014: got up before the roosters to get a 2 hour run in. 11.5 miles. Spent the rest of the day at the shop and ice cream for dinner with Dave.

Friday, September 19, 2014: rest day!!

Saturday, September 20, 2014: woke up way to early to help time a 5k. Rushed to Woolmarket (our meeting grounds for group bike rides) for a 1 hour bike ride (20 miles) and a 1 hour run (5.5 miles). Rushed to Winn Dixie (grocery store) for a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk for recovery! I'm feeling so great this week.

Sunday, September 21, 2014: 2 mile swim in the lake. That lake keeps getting me and I keep getting it back! I can't say my 2 miles was pretty, cause it was rough! Had a minor freak out, reset, then just swam. With a kayak next to me OF COURSE! What I failed to mention Wednesday was I swam half way across that stinking late, freaked out, and vowed to never swim the lake again. Without a kayak anyway. So Dave kayaked for me ~frying in the sun. Seriously, best friend ever! Also shout out to my friend Brian who conquered his longest consecutive distance yet.

Word for this week: SOLID

Swim: 4 miles
Bike: 110 miles
Run: 23.7 miles
