If You Never Tri, You'll Never Know!

10 Weeks to Ironman Arizona

Monday, September 1, 2014: a super fun morning with a few friends (Pamela, Amanda, Charlene, Brandon, and then joined by Peggy). We did a mini sprint reverse tri - 3 mile run, 15 mile bike, .5 mile swim in the Gulf. It was exactly what I needed! Breakfast at the Mockingbird Cafe made for a perfect morning! Spent the rest of Labor Day ~ironically~ working! And the last few hours with Jake and very early to bed. This will be a mild training week with a 70.3 to punch out on Saturday. Road trip to Tennessee!! WOOP WOOP!!

Tuesday, September 2, 2014: I've got an hour bike and hour run to knock out...
A 5am wakeup. All I remember is looking at my phone and thinking why am I awake so early!?
Zzzzzzzzzz...
830am wakeup. Holy moly I practically slept the day away! I jumped up, got some work done and hit the street for a hot 4.5 miles (45 minute) run. While I was running I decided, I'm so quirky. Everything on me is the same thing that's on me for every single run. I mean, I guess it's a good thing. I'm consistent and I know what works. And I know what I like... Read more HERE. I am THAT runner. Guess what too!? I got my new WetZoot in (wetsuit from Zoot). I love new tri stuff!! I'm racing THIS Saturday!!!!

Wednesday, September 3, 2014: I'm definitely taking it easy this week. I still haven't gotten that hour bike in. I feel somewhere between lazy, slacking, and tapering :/ I did hit another run today - 30 minutes with an athlete then 30 more minutes mixed with some calisthenics. I'm headed to TN tomorrow and I'm taking my trainer. I promise I'm going to spin out for at least 45 minutes when I arrive at my hotel. VOW. The good news - I'm packed and ready!!

Thursday, September 4, 2014: completed a 7.5 hour drive to Joelton, TN. Stopped and picked my packet pickup. Nothing fun to report :/ Jake was such a good boy, I didn't drink a single Red Bull, and only stopped to P like 17 times!! Ha ha ;)
Oh, had FULL intention on bringing my trainer and getting that 45 minute spin in. Guess what I forgot!?

Friday, September 5, 2014: up early this morning and UGH, with fever! I felt not so great on and off yesterday driving up. I've been loading on Vitamin C. I even stopped in the urgent care to make sure it wasn't anything serious. Just a little bug and I'm fighting the heck out of it! Anyway, I checked out the race site and let Jake get in the river. The venue is GORGEOUS! (see below). Even though I'm terrified of the no wetsuit swim, I'm thrilled to get into this race!

Saturday, September 6, 2014: I raced RiverBluff Tri 70.3. Race report is in the works!
But in short, I knocked out a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. And by "knocked out", I mean barely survived. A race to remember for sure! Or quietly forget... :/

How do we always end up in a photo shoot situation !?
Sunday, September 7, 2014: awwww, a day of rest. Played in and around Nashville today! Driving home tomorrow!!

Another week down and ready for Ironman Arizona. I learned a lot about myself physically and mentally this week. I don't do well with taper (which I think I already knew...); I survived a 1.2 swim with no wetsuit and against a current (CONFIDENCE!!!); and even when I think I can't, I CAN. Maybe I already knew that too, but a recheck every now and then is just what I need. Thanks for continuing to support my Ironman dreams!!
