Real Friends
It's nearing midnight; you can't sleep, your heart hurts, and you feel like you can't possible cry another tear... Do you know where your friends are?
It takes a real friend to have your back at that hour of the night. It takes a real friend to have your back for A LOT of things! The good, the fun, the crazy, the bad, the tears, the laughs the wild, the stupid...
If your friend can say, "I love you, but..."
That's a real friend. (unless the "but" is followed by something really mean that doesn't apply, that's not a real friend, that's just a mean ass that not only doesn't know how to be a real friend, but they don't know what love is either...)
I'm all about real friends. The ones who will be super honest with you. The ones that will sit up with you until midnight to hear the same shit you've been saying for days in a different way.
Some people need friends that will tell them what they want to hear. I need friends who tell me what I need to hear. Written in August 2013, I wanted to reshare my thoughts on "Real Friends"...

Well, I keep it real.
I'm going to tell you how I really feel and what I really think.
I think that's what being a REAL friend is all about.
If I can't be honest with you, who can!?

I'm always here for you.
I don't care what you say about me to other people, behind my back, under your breath, or in your head.
I'm still going to be here for you.

I'm not going to judge you, but I'm going to call you on your nonsense.
I will confront you.
I'm not going to think everything you do is okay, but I'm going to support you.
I will forgive you.
I'm not going to understand all of your flaws, but I'm going to accept you.
I will be a REAL friend.
I'm going to tell you your beautiful.
I'm going to convince you you're worth it.
I'm going to help you be a better you.
I think that's what being a REAL friend is all about.
I won't disrespect you. I won't disregard you.
I will celebrate your joys and accomplishments.
I will sorrow over your pains and hurt.
I will defend you.
I think that's what being a REAL friend is all about.
And you know what else?
I will be this REAL friend, even when you are not.
Because I think, that's what being a REAL friend is all about."
