Rock Star Heroes
Chris and I have decided that we are going to throw in some restaurant reviews. Fantastic, right!? The best form of advertisement is word of mouth! If someone recommends me to some good food, I definitely want to try it out! I LOVE GOOD FOOD!
Our first review is Newk's Eatery in Gulfport, MS (also locations in Hattiesburg and D'Iberville, MS). We picked Newk's for lunch today for two reasons, 1) they are our new rock star heroes (see below) and 2) Cobb Salad (recommended by a friend!!).
Rock Star Heroes:
With Run-N-Tri, we are hosting a triathlon on Saturday. The final hours of preparation are upon us when one of our food vendors decided they weren't going to be able to provide the food ***Insert curse words, jaw hitting the floor, and lots more cursing*** Long story short, I posted on Facebook that we were in need of replacement food and HOLY MOLY, messages were bouncing off my feed. I sat there in awe watching FB blow up with my request. It was awesome. The power of Facebook is incredible! Within an hour, one of the co-owners of Newk's Eatery was onboard to provide food.
A follow up call with co-owner, Kevin, left me in tears. The generosity of this man, this establishment is inspiring. All he wants to do is give back to the community. "If getting food for an event is a burden, let me take that burden from you because it's not a burden for me." Oh My God. What do I even say to this man!? Thank you. So much thank you. I'm so impressed from a business AND personal standpoint. So impressed and proud of this establishment! It's not always about making money people.
"...let me take that burden from you..." Incredible.
So needless to say, Newk's is our rock star hero for our triathlon!!

Now the Food:
Today we had the Cobb Salad. Is faboliscious a word?? It is now! This salad was light yet filling and full of flavor. Fresh greens, grilled chicken, bacon, eggs, gorgonzola cheese, tomatoes, onions, pecans, and croutons. Usually topped with Bleu Cheese, we opted for the healthier, Balsamic dressing. It's been added to the top of our "awesome salads to eat for lunch" list.
My only complaint, I like my greens chopped up a little more; there were some serious leafs in that bowl! If the size of the leafs are the only thing to complain about, I think they're doing pretty darn good! My favorite part was all the deliciousness at the bottom of the bowl; mouthfuls of pecans, bacon, and cheese. Mmm!

Christina also had the Roasted Tomato soup. Her one word: BOMB.
She says the Chicken Tortilla soup is also amazing and the Newk's Q Sandwich is ADDICTIVE.
I've also had the Mediterranean Pizza (delicious) and their GIANT chocolate cake. I'm drooling...
Newk's has a great atmosphere, really cool dishes, they are fast, affordable, and it's good fresh food! They are committed to giving back to the community and they're just really nice. Conveniently located off of I-10, the next time you're passing by, stop in for a quick lunch and tell them that the Run-N-Tri girls sent you!!
