If You Never Tri, You'll Never Know!

Making Tri's Happen

Our local running and tri shop, Run-N-Tri Company (where we both happen to work and play) hosted their 4th Annual Tradition's Triathlon yesterday (hosted/organized the entire triathlon. I spent TONS of time and energy on putting together this triathlon. It's basically my baby bird that I've been nurturing and stressing over for weeks. I mean I'm swimming in South Africa thinking about what time I should do packet pick-up). And this is a MASSIVE shout out to everyone who helped make it possible...

Venue provided by Tradition's Village, a gorgeous community in Biloxi, MS. They didn't just let us use their neighborhood, they set up a giant tent, table and chairs, provided an onsite golf cart, and allowed us to practice swim in their lake leading up to the event.

Bienville Orthopedics was our title sponsor. Not only were they financial contributors, they had a super fun team at the finish line with gatorade, fruit, snacks, and water.

The after party couldn't have been more fantastic... We had breakfast, lunch, AND happy hour!! Waffle House was onsite serving up fresh waffles. Newk's (who don't forget, are our rock star heroes) spread included sandwiches, salad, and fruit; A LOT! And Lazy Magnolia Brewery filled us up with their famous Southern Pecan brew. Kentwood Water was rehydrating us all! Ice from Bandit Crossfit kept it all cold! Thank you for all the refreshment support!

Mark Nichols with Rock It provided our DJ and mic services. With multiple speakers and mics, we were able to be in several locations at once! Timing support was provided by Delbert with SplitMaster Timing (been with us since the beginning!).

Pro Cycle and Tri came over from Fairhope, AL to provide bicycle support. Flat tire? No problem. Clickety clacks? No problem! Joe and Katie, the owners, had air, wrenches, and tons of enthusiasm to help our racers!

You would think that that would be enough right there. But wait, we had SO much more!!
TONS of volunteers. Volunteers truly make the race successful. We simply could not do it without them. A really GIANT thank you to everyone who committed their Saturday morning to us; friends, new friends, kayakers, more friends, and the Navy SEABEE's even came over to help! I wish I could name you all individually but I think you know how grateful I am!! But I do need to recognize the lovely Kathleen Morrow in the bright orange shirt. She helped raise an extra $1,350 selling raffle tickets. p.s. this race, the proceeds benefit our Student Athlete Scholarship Fund. No profit, all $$ goes back into the community; it's just how we roll.
Thank you #navy #Seabee volunteers for helping out at our #triathlon !!

Onsite or racing we had more support: Core Chirosports, Joel Blackledge Law Firm, Law Offices of David Sullivan, Ticking Tri Bombs, and Elite Screen Printing. The GWRRA MS Chapter Z motorcycle club was also on our bike course supporting our racers! We even had AMR onsite the county sheriffs were protecting our intersections. The support was truly amazing!!

Finally, we had donations from Cyclist Choice, Sunfish Triathlon, Cycology, Sake Skin, Desoto, Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, New Balance, Saucony, Merrell, OOFOS, Fuel Belt, Zoots, Flip Belts, KT Tape, Hammer, Laura's Vacation Rentals, Mind & Body Inc, Gulf Coast Community Ministries, Dr. Hoy's, Trustmark, SportLegs, Howard's Paints, and Vitamin World in Slidell, LA to pack our goodie bags full and hold a post race raffle prize giveaway. So much good stuff we could hardly believe it ourselves!!

So much thanks goes out across the coast. I sure hope I didn't miss anyone! Feel free to comment if I did and I'll get ya in there ;)
