Locorotondo, Puglia

 

Locorotondo was actually our first stop when we arrived in Puglia, awaiting our AirBNB check-in. We were instantly enchanted by the white-washed city and laid back feel. Popular for its own style of architecture: cummerse are narrow rectangular town houses with pointed gable roofs.

These simple, angular buildings that predominate the centre belie the town's true shape, which, as its name implies, is "rotund", both horizontally (thanks to its circular street plan) and vertically (it hugs the contours of the hill on which it sits).

A quick walk around the town and lunch left us with an excited heart for more Puglia!
