Accountability - Ear Aches and Excuses

Monday, June 16, 2025 - Woke up with an ear ache/infection/inflammation(!?) - which I've never had as an adult. It just hurts. It feels like a headache in my ear with little jabs of pain. Ouchy. Luca said don't swim. Okay. So I'll gym and bike... Really putting an effort on the bike for this training cycle! I hate excuses.

Tuesday, June 17 - My ear still hurts. Thinking I might need to see a doc but giving it another day or two. No swim again of course. But I grabbed a 35mins run/walk (mostly walk) because I also feel low and slow this morning. AND, last night I gouged the back of my ankle with the door so I have a slice which did not make for a comfy run. Good Grief with the excuses!

Wednesday, June 18 - Ear might be feeling better; I don't even know, I can't tell. I've never had an adult ear ache before!? I'm over not swimming though, so I'm going to attempt it...
I did. And so far, no pain, no problem. Had a good back workout in the gym and then a 2,200m swim.

Thursday, June 19 - No ear pain after the swim yesterday so hopefully that's behind us. 35mins outside on the bike climbing + 30mins inside on the KickR. I wanted to do a brick run but it got way way too hot. I didn't get started early enough. I'm really tired (as in sleepy) this week.

Friday, June 20 - I woke up feeling like I'm not doing enough. I think I need 2-a-days. And that means I need to get up early and get shit done before it's 40* (that's over 100!). So today I headed to the gym for a leg workout (which may have been a mistake considering a long weekend of training ahead of me...yikes!) and a 1,600m swim. I got home and quickly mowed which is in of itself another whole workout! - I count it ;)

Saturday, June 21 - hit snooze at 0545 and didn't touch the alarm again until near 8am. So that meant a late start to my run. It's okay, it was just hot. I pretty much had to walk the final .6 miles up to my house. Normally I can run/walk the climb. It did me in. 7 miles for the day. Spent the rest of the day working on our Honey Do List w/my Luca and later aperitivo with friends.

Sunday, June 22 - didn't touch the snooze this morning - the heat is one thing, the traffic is another and I was motivated to beat the traffic. Yes! Even on a Sunday! 31 miles done on the bike and no issues. Except, I'm WIPED! Realized well after the fact that I was supposed to do a brick run. Oops!

All things considered, not a terrible week. I felt like I wasn't doing enough, but looking back, I'm okay with this work. 3 bikes, 2 runs, 2 swims. I want to up the run and swim situation. Although I'm not sure right now how to get in another swim. I DO work ya know. Am I just making excuses?
