Easter!! Week 16 (of 20) Barcelona 70.3

Phew, a whole week sick had (has) me anxious! But I'm feeling much better and going to get right back on track with training!

Monday, April 15, 2019 - a planned shopping day at the Barbarino Outlets in Firenze.
Unfortunately, my body's too big and our wallets too small for this designer outlet. I was sadly let down, deep deep down :( Despite, we found a few needed things to include a new pair of running shoes that I will try AND I received my Wahoo Kickr (smart trainer) when we arrived home.

Also, a sad day for Paris as the Notre Dame Cathedral has caught fire - the spire and roof have collapsed. Devastating and heart breaking. Of course, the Cathedral will be rebuilt - bigger, better, stronger - but such damage - and what a scar this day leaves in the history of Paris.

NO TRAINING

Tuesday, April 16 - bloodwork first thing this morning (one of these days I'm going to get around writing about all this bloodwork and doctor visits...). After, I talked Luca into a bike ride up Ortonovo and a brick run.
BIKE 18 miles + RUN 2 miles

Wednesday, April 17 - errands and Italian bureaucracy this morning surrounding residency, car registration, and just STUFF. But straight away to the Bike shop for a cassette change on the Wahoo and to the pool batman for a 2,000m swim. Felt good to be back in the water! I love love love having my Luca here with me all through the day. This staycation is GREAT! In the midst of warming pots and pans for dinner we decided to cancel and shoot out for pizza at one of our favorite joints. Perfect!

Thursday, April 18 - we shot out on the bike again with the intention of climbing Ortonovo again. Two things were against us: 1) the traffic and 2) my bike. When trying to connect to the Wahoo I made some adjustments (when what I actually need is a different cassette on the Wahoo) - and I was dropping the chain and gears. Yikes!! So a quick (and scary) out and back. And we decided to focus on the run - grabbing a slow 5 miles.
BIKE 8 miles + RUN 5 miles

Friday, April 19 - woke up SO excited!! Our Milan friends Max and Carrie are coming for the weekend. WOOO!! But first a swim!! Marina di Carrara for a 1,600m quickie + lunch out + major house cleaning + yardwork+ and a scary movie before our friends arrived. Once our friends arrived we had very late pizza, beers, and laughs!
SWIM 1600m

Saturday, April 20 - early morning to the Cinque Terre - we did the long hike first and headed for the shorter one but it was closed (bad weather earlier this week - hope it's not closed forever!!). Sushi out and more laughs with our friends.
HIKE

Sunday, April 21 - Happy Easter!!! We had Easter Brunch instead of dinner complete with bacon, croissants, omelets, and sweet potato hash browns! YUM!!! Spent the day playing games with our friends, playing with Jake, and finished up with a sunset walk by the sea. What a perfect weekend!!
EASTER REST

Weekly totals:
Swim x 2 = 3600m
Bike x 2 = 25 miles
Run x 2 = 7 miles
Another light week. Coming off of being sick + Luca being off all week + a weekend with friends in town - I understand the lack of balance. Next week, firing it back up!!!! LET'S DO THIS!!
