If You Never Tri, You'll Never Know!

RACE WEEK!! #accountability

I'm somewhere between feeling under prepared and over prepared. I know, that doesn't make any sense. I put in a ton of miles but was it enough!? Was it too much!? My approach for this Ironman was so different! All I can do is race *SHRUG* ~ and that's a bit unnerving.

Monday, August 20, 2018 - a quick swim this morning - 1,300m - packed pool. As per usual. Ugh.
SWIM

Tuesday, August 21, 2018 - today got lost to Firenze. I was super stressed yesterday packing and preparing everything for our trip so we all agreed on a little mini escape. I took Alyssa to see David at the Accademia and explored the city a bit.

Wednesday, August 22, 2018 - up at 5am for our drive to Vichy, France. The goal was a 50min run but by the time we got here, got mom and Bob, got situated (and our bearings), it was dinner and bed time. Lost another training session GRR.

Thursday, August 23, 2018 - ran to the sports center for packet pick up. Just an easy 10 minutes with some pick ups. Packet pick up is always an uneasy day. I can't help but look around at the other athletes and feel out of place (especially at European races). I'm not a slim, lean, triathlon machine. I don't walk with the confidence that I'm going to win this race. I have chunks and bulges. And my confidence is limited to "I've got this" in under 16 hours...
I feel the eyes that glare you're the Ironman!? And the shock when I respond that this isn't my first but it's actually my 15th. And this one, I was pointed in the "right" direction to the 70.3 registration several times. GRRR. Dinner at the apartment w/the fam.

Friday, August 24, 2018 - biked to the sports center for a bike check-up. Just an easy 1 mile w/pickups. She's lubed and tightened!! Lunch and an afternoon w/the fam + athlete meeting w/mom later. Meanwhile Luca prepared a spaghetti dinner - Carb-O-Load ;)
Felt a little feverish today - fighting it w/airborne and mental defense!

Saturday, August 25, 2018 - mom's 70.3!!! I ran around a bit more than I should have!

Sunday, Aug 26, 2018 - RACE DAY!! Ironman Vichy to completion 14 hours and 32 minutes.
