Caltagirone, Italy ~ A City of Ceramics

One of my favorite places so far, Caltagirone, is all about pottery (ceramics). At first I found them tacky and silly but they grew on me quick! They are all hand-made from clay, cooked, and painted. Each shop has it's own designs, styles, color combinations, and traditions. The tiles, heads, vases, plates, and more can be found all over the entire city! There is even a 142 step stair case (Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte) each step decorated with different hand-decorated ceramic tiles. It's beautifully impressive!!

We also explored several churches and a beautiful park where we let Jake be a crazy dog for a little while. Lunch at Il Giardino Di Bacco and gelato were also highlights of our adventure.

^^ probably our best lunch so far in Sicily!!

Can you see the magic surrounding this city? We were lucky enough to see it AND feel it!
